A Commentary on Catholic Catechism Articles

Paragraph 28

In many ways, throughout history down to the present day, men have given expression to their quest for God in their religious beliefs and behavior: in their prayers, sacrifices, rituals, meditations, and so forth. These forms of religious expression, despite the ambiguities they often bring with them, are so universal that one may well call man a religious being:
From one ancestor [God] made all nations to inhabit the whole earth, and he allotted the times of their existence and the boundaries of the places where they would live, so that they would search for God and perhaps grope for him and find him - though indeed he is not far from each one of us. For "in him we live and move and have our being."
The one thing you can always count on from an atheist, is that they are very passionate about their atheism.  Passionate to the point of making it a whole new religion.  In their quest for God (something this article so accurately points out as a human trait), they find comfort in make-believe forces that constantly better the world through natural selection or survival of the fittest.

The really amazing thing is that they've turned denial into a religion...and only something as powerful as Christianity could have enticed them enough to launch an anti-God dogma.  Indeed, you never hear logical arguments lined up to counter the belief in something like reincarnation.  Nor do you find countries waging war over the freedom to believe in Hinduism or Buddhism.  You won't even hear public ridicule...just in inward chuckle, the way someone might laugh at a child's belief in fairies.

Christianity, however, brings out the best and the worst from everyone.  It is never ignored or minimized.  Even the Muslims have their entire religion revolving around the destruction of Christianity and its predecessor, Judaism.  Remember Christ's prophetic words, "Mt:12:30:30  He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth."

Christianity is the final destination for man's quest for God.  It answers all questions.  It takes all things into consideration.  It is a philosophy, a theology, a practice, and a deeper existence all rolled into one.
